Clear Invisible Braces FAQs

Who is a candidate for clear braces treatment?

If you are suffering from common moderate alignment problems such as crowding, excess spacing, crooked teeth, or even more complex problems such as an overbite, underbite, or crossbite, you may be a candidate for ClearCorrect™ or Invisilgn™ clear invisible braces. Our dentist will evaluate your individual situation during your initial consultation and tell you if clear braces are right for you.

What happens during the treatment?

Initially, you will get x-rays and impressions taken of your mouth. Then we will send this information to the lab where they use three-dimensional computer scanning technology to create a three-dimensional model of your teeth. The software will simulate the movement of your teeth during the treatment. The doctor will then review your prospective treatment, modifying it if necessary. After they approve the lab's treatment plan, the lab will then create custom molds of your teeth at each stage of the treatment; from these molds the clear plastic trays which will fit over your teeth are created just for you. When we receive your set of 18-30 trays at Beach View Dental, you may begin your treatment.

How often and how long do I need to wear my clear plastic trays?

You need to wear your trays continuously for two weeks each, except when you eat, brush, or floss. The entire treatment usually lasts about a year.

Are the treatment trays painful?

No. In fact, clear invisible braces' treatment is much less painful than traditional metal braces. Although you may experience some soreness in your teeth during the first few days after you have switched to a new aligner tray, patients of traditional orthodontic treatment experience this same soreness. However, with aligners you won't have to deal with wires poking you or sores developing in your mouth, because the tray is made out of smooth plastic. Another benefit is that you can eat whatever you want because food won't get stuck in your braces since they are removable!

What other benefits do clear braces provide?

Besides being invisible and removable, clear braces can provide:

  • Healthier gums (due to properly aligned teeth which give gums a tighter fit)
  • Improved bite and speech (due to better alignment)
  • Less wear and tear (due to less stress on your jaw joints and bone)
